Projects
ITG Training Videos for Blackboard Vista Enterprise Learning System
August 2009 - December 2009
This project was an Internship project that I did to complete my Digital Media degree at UCF. It included researching many different types of screen capture applications for both Mac and Windows operating systems. After deciding on a few and discussing it over with my manager we decided on using the ScreenFlow application for Mac. After deciding on the application that I would be using I then had to script out how the screencasts would be presented. I had a lot of fun in production and when the time period of my internship ended we started thinking about extending the project into my regular work schedule.
Instructional Technology Assistant Online Training Course
May 2009 - July 2009
Using the Blackboard Vista Enterprise Learning System that the University of Central Florida uses to teach online courses I designed a training course that contained Learning Modules and Assessments that a new hire ITA must complete before they can start supporting faculty via phone, email, or face-to-face consultations. The course is now maintained by myself and the Instructional Technology Group.
Tau Kappa Epsilon - Xi-Iota Chapter Website
January 2007 - June 2009
As a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE) International Fraternity, I held many leadership positions throughout my time as a member. Amongst those positions was the Website Chairman. When I first held the position, the organization was using a forum run by PHPNuke to communicate. When I held the position I designed something that was intended to be more informative to potential members and their families that uses forums in the back end for current members. It really helped us out with recruitment when candidates started contacting the Recruitment Chairman through the contact form on the recruitment page.
Greek Week 2008 Website for UCF Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life
March 2008 - April 2008
The Public Relations Manager of the Greek Week Executive Board approached me to assist her with designing a website to inform UCF students of the upcoming events. I designed a template for the site and entered the content she was able to provide for me.
Instructional Technology Group Website Redesign
March 2008
While working with ITG at the University of Central Florida I decided to utilize some of the slow period in the middle of the school semester to make a new design and logo for the team.
Cypress Bay High School JROTC Website and Public Relations Officer
August 2003 - June 2004
During my time as a member of the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps at Cypress Bay High School I held many leadership positions at both a company and a battalion level as I worked through the ranks quickly. My second to third year I held the position of Public Relations Officer (S-4) and build the battalion's first website to get news and pictures out to the public. My Senior Army Instructor continuously expressed his appreciation for my contributions to the organization.
Activities
Tau Kappa Epsilon - Xi-Iota Chapter Officer
August 2009 - December 2009
During my last year at college I was elected into the Grammateus officer position in my fraternity. My duties included:
- Keeping the list of chapter officers on file with the Offices of the Grand Chapter updated using the TKE Maintenance Module on the headquarters website
- Keeping permanent records of all proceeding of the chapter, sharing the minutes with the Chapter Advisor and the Board of Advisors, and passing the records on to my successor
- Attending to all correspondence not otherwise delegated, keeping a file of all official chapter correspondence with the Offices of the Grand Chapter, the college or university, and other interested parties
- Developing a new phone list every term and provide a copy to each member
- Report to the chapter at all meetings any unfinished business
- Assist with the compilation of the annual membership roster for the Officers of the Grand Chapter to calculate Annual Membership Fees
- And to assist the Prytanis (President) in preparing the Annual Report and any applications for Chapter awards
My experience as an officer in TKE was an extremely time consuming one but I wouldn't have given it up if I could do it again.
Tau Kappa Epsilon - Xi-Iota Chapter Family Weekend Chairman
August 2008 - December 2009
Looking to expand my experience in TKE I decided to take on another chair position other than Website Chairman. When I applied for several positions and was selected for Family Weekend I was put into a position that was never held by any other member before. I set the bar for future members to hold this position. Throughout the semester I did research to find the best ways to spend my budget. The event was very successful and many of the parents and family members expressed how thankful they were. Everyone was given a t-shirt, there were plenty of games for everyone, the food was great, and everyone had fun at the UCF Family Weekend Football Game.
Tau Kappa Epsilon Xi-Iota Chapter Website Chairman
January 2007 - June 2009
When I first joined TKE I had an incredible urge to get involved the best way I could. As a Digital Media student the first position I looked at was the Website Chairman. I was really excited until I realized the position I was in. The chapter actually didn't have a website in place. The previous Website Chairman had designed a forum powered by PHPNuke for the chapter to use for communication. I quickly realized that there was no information anywhere for potential and future members unless they actually approached a current member of the organization. So I designed a brand new beautiful site with plenty of information for both potential candidates for membership and for their families.
University of Central Florida Army ROTC
June 2005 - December 2005
Upon graduation from High School I was awarded a scholarship from the U.S. Army to commission as an Army Officer after graduation. I spent a year in the program until I decided that the military life wasn't for me. The experience was a lot of fun though and I learned many leadership skills while I was a cadet.
Cypress Bay High School JROTC Company Commander
August 2004 - June 2005
During my last year in High School after being the Public Relations Officer for two years I decided that I wanted to move away from staff and actually be in command of a company. My Senior Army Instructor placed me in the position of Company Commander where we competed with three other companies in athletics and cadet knowledge and came out victorious many times.
Cypress Bay High School JROTC Public Relations Officer
August 2002 - June 2004
During my second year in High School my school split into two because of crowded classrooms. In my new school I joined the JROTC program and quickly expressed interest in the Technology & Public Relations Officer position so that I could get news of what the Battalion was up to. During my two terms in this position I submitted many stories to the school newspaper and designed a website that included information about the organization and it's Booster Club, and also provided a photo album of all the events we participated in.
